Return to Play Summer Soccer Program Description

All groups will be fixed for the time being, with players playing games and learning skills in their group. Each group can be thought of as an individual practice. All sessions will then be broken down further into 3 x 15 minute sections, with the first 2 sections allowing for technical skills to be taught (dribbling, passing, receiving, etc.) and the final 15 minutes will always be left for a scrimmage within the group. This will ensure players enjoy a fun game they have all been missing over the summer, while also giving instruction and teaching basic soccer skills so that parents feel a good value in the program.

The program begins the week of August 4th and concludes September 28th.

U4 – U6 Program (born 2014-2015-2016)

The U4 – U6 program will be parent and player based as it would be a challenge to keep physical distancing with such young players. Players will engage in various dribbling and passing activities with their parent as their opponent or teammate, in their own separate area with coaches leading the entire group. The final game at the end would be a 1v1 with players against their parent, with each group having a pug net as their goal. Activities will be focused on dribbling with the introduction to passing to keep things fresh and allow players to interact more with parents.

Considerations: size of each group since parents will impact numbers, number of pug nets needed, space required, might want to have 3 activities + game as a 15 minute 1v1 might not last long enough for kids.

U7 – U10 Program (born 2010-2011-2012-2013)

This program will focus on dribbling and passing equally during the activity portion. Variations to the games may be used to keep things fresh as players will always be playing against the same group.

Considerations: later in the season we may be able to move to group vs group games but this can be done in September if we feel it is appropriate to do so.

U11 – U12 Program (born 2008-2009)

This program will focus on games, with the session structure following the GAG format. The first game can be a modified game to keep things fresh as the weeks go on. The activities will focus on dribbling with more passing integrated than the younger groups.

Considerations: Might be better off playing at external venues such as Glenview, Memorial, York Mills, etc.
