2022 Annual General Meeting

The 2022 Annual General Meeting of North Toronto Soccer Club was held on November 29. At the AGM, elections were held for 2 positions on the 7-member volunteer Board of Directors. Valerie Helbronner was elected for a second term, and the Board welcomed a new member, Voula Michaelidis.

Valerie Helbronner, mother of 2 Nitros players, has been a club volunteer team manager for 8 years. Most of her 3 years of NTSC Board experience has been during the pandemic where she played a key role in the club's response to COVID restrictions and the return to play. Valerie is a partner in a major law firm practicing in the areas of energy and infrastructure projects with a focus on indigenous matters and partnerships. She has broad experience on not-for-profit Boards. Valerie has a strong belief in the importance of sport in children's lives and a real commitment to the difference that team sports can have in girl's personal development.

VoulaMichaelidis, mother of 2 Nitros players, has been a club parent for 6 years and a volunteer for the past 3 years. In her professional life she is a lawyer practicing in the areas of employment and human rights law, with experience in areas including policies, inclusivity, diversity, accommodation and continuing education. She has extensive not-for-profit Board experience.  Prior to becoming a lawyer, Voula was an Occupational Therapist at the Hospital for Sick Children. She has substantial experience in the physical, social and emotional development of children and youth.

One Director completed her 2nd term and retired from the Board. Mireille Landry has served 6 years as a Board member and Secretary, and continues her role as a team manager. Mireille was sincerely thanked for her many contributions as a Director. As a physiotherapist for Canadian Olympic and University Games teams, and physiotherapy instructor at University of Toronto, Mireille has continually advocated for "putting the player first", dedicating herself to young athletes and their development.

Also at the meeting, an amendment to the club Constitution was approved, adopting changes to the Committee structure of the club (Section 8).
