U7 Select (Tournament) Teams

U7 SELECT (TOURNAMENT) TEAMS

The North Toronto Soccer Club will be seeking interested U7 (2004) house league players to create girls and boys U7 select teams.

A select team is a group of our finest house league players who will represent the club at weekend tournaments during the summer. The U7 select program runs alongside house league. It is an opportunity for young house league players to receive extra training from the technical staff and improve their soccer skills. Although not all players will be selected for the tournament teams, any interested player can continue to attend the sessions and receive the extra training. The tournament teams will be selected based on talent and availability for the tournaments.  

Players registered in the Spring House League will participate in twice-weekly house league games plus supplementary training (see above) during May and early June.  Players for the select teams will be  after tryouts (dates to be announced later).

Players registered in the Summer House will play in one wekly house league game, and in select team practices.

The U7 Select Program also allows players to prepare for this fall's Competitive tryouts for the 2012 U8 Rep Teams.  

SELECT TRAINING SESSIONS

Players must bring their own ball to every sessions.  Please ensure that the player's name is written on the ball.

Sessions throughout July and August will be on a weeknight that does not conflict with our Summer House League Program.

During the Select Training Sessions the technical staff will be identifying each player by an assigned numbered bib which will be distributed at the beginning of every practice and be collected at the end of every practice.  In an attempt to avoid on-field confusion we are asking everyone to please arrive at the very least 15 minutes earlier for sign-ins and bib distribution. Your child should have the same colour and number bib at each practice. 

COMMITMENT AND TOURNAMENT DATES

Information about level of commitment will be explained during the first practice.  We are looking for players who can commit to once a week training (understanding family vacations) and who can commit to tournament dates, including the following:

Please remember that the club’s focus is on player development through age group training.  The goal is to foster a sense of team play and co-operation and players may move between teams over the summer.

WHO WILL ATTEND THE TOURNAMENTS?

The teams will be selected by the technical staff based on talent, attendance at practice and availability. The technical staff will release those names in early June.  

FEES

For players selected for the teams, there will be a fee payable to the club to cover costs including uniforms, tournament fees and player registration fees. 

The Select Team fees will be released following team selection.  It will be in the range of $200-$250.

COACHING STAFF

Technical Staff will be leading the Select Training Sessions;  however parents will be recruited to assist.  The staff will be training a pool of parent volunteers coaches and from that pool, head coaches, assistant coaches and managers will be assigned for next year’s U8 Competitive Program.
